French shoemaker Bluedy was inspired by Stephin Merritt of the Magnetic Fields to produce this line of footwear. The phrase “inspired by” leaves a bad taste in my mouth. At first blush, it seems like a ploy to name drop and sell more shoes to hipsters, but upon looking at the footwear, they are very Merritt-esque: A little sad, but quite distinguished. Rather simple, yet wholly unique. If I had a boyfriend hip enough to sport these, I’d definitely buy a pair.
